The Philadelphia Police Department has confirmed the perpetrator’s identity in the recent horrific mass shooting which shook the Kingsessing neighborhood.
The gunman, Kimbrady Carriker, was arrested and charged with murdering five people and leaving two children injured.
Law enforcement authorities arrested Carriker at the site of the shooting. The Black Lives Matter (BLM) and individual reportedly was in possession of multiple weapons and donned a bulletproof vest.
Reporters at a local news affiliate report the motive behind the mass shooting remains unknown.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported the shooting occurred in the city’s Kingsessing neighborhood on Monday evening.
The shooter reportedly had two prior arrests in connection with gun charges.
Carriker posted pictures of himself in women’s clothing on his Facebook page. Carriker also reportedly regularly posted his support of Black Live Matter, including supporting workers who protested in the Strike for Black Lives in July 2020.
A former roommate has described Carriker as a creative individual yet one with a notably aggressive approach. This insight only contributes to the puzzling nature of the tragic event as investigators continue to peel back the layers of the crime.
The New York Post reported that in addition to several children being seriously injured, the following died in the shooting: Lashyd Merritt, 20; Dymir Stanton, 29; Ralph Moralis, 59; Daujan Brown, 15; and Joseph Wamah Jr., 31.
