WARSAW, Oct 12 (Reuters) – Germany said on Wednesday it was receiving less oil but still had sufficient supplies, after Poland discovered a leak in the Druzhba oil pipeline which carries crude from Russia to Europe which Warsaw says was probably caused by accident rather than sabotage.
The discovery of the leak on the main route carrying oil to Germany, which operator PERN said it found on Tuesday evening, comes as Europe is on high alert for its energy security as it makes facing a serious crisis following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine which cut off the gas supply.
“Security of supply in Germany is currently guaranteed,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of Economy said in an emailed statement. “The Schwedt and Leuna refineries continue to receive crude oil via the Druzhba pipeline.”
