Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo snapped a photo with renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson — and when he shared it on Instagram, the comments flooded in.
The immensely popular athlete became the first person to amass over 500 million followers across social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter in February of 2021 — and he’s bested Brazilian legend Pele’s goal tally with 770 — but he apparently ruffled some feathers with a simple photo.
Reuters reporter Catarina Demony was not thrilled with the crossover, tweeting, “Cristiano Ronaldo with Jordan Peterson, the guy who said feminists have ‘an unconscious wish for brutal male domination.’”
“I’ll be real, a Cristiano Ronaldo, Jordan Peterson linkup is one I couldn’t have imagined at any point, at all,” sportswriter @umirf1 added.
But the responses to the photo on Instagram were primarily positive, with many wishing Ronaldo well and a number talking about how much they liked both men.
“Two proper men,” Peter Queally added.
Peterson commented on the photo as well, saying, “I’ve rarely met anyone who more clearly deserved what they earned. Good to meet you.”
“Two legends the world needed,” came from @piques.
“Fantastic! Huge fan of both of you,” Peter Jordan said.
“Legendary,” Anthony Sorella added.
“Woooooowww!!! Two legends,” from Camilo Gaviria.
