IT@COVID19Up: Italy said Monday (May 30) it was dropping the requirement to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, recent recovery or a negative test before entering the country.
The health ministry announced that the requirement to show a so-called “Green Pass” to enter Italy “will not be extended” when it expires on Tuesday (May 31).
Italy was the first European country hit by the novel coronavirus in early 2020 and has had some of the toughest restrictions, including requiring all workers to show a Green Pass.
On June 15 the requirement to wear a mask will also expire in the places still subject to the rule, but the government seems to be less determined to grant the total go-ahead, with talks of relaxing it for public places like cinemas and theaters, but keeping it for public transport.
