US@COVID19Up: The CDC and NIH are hemorrhaging staff as poor decision-making—described by those quitting as “bad science”—has led to low morale, according to Dr. Marty Makary, a top public-health expert at Johns Hopkins University.
Controversial decisions made by the agencies that hurt morale include : support for mandatory masking, school closures, and COVID-19 vaccines for toddlers.
Both agencies, along with the FDA, have been mired in ridicule throughout the COVID-19 crisis for inconsistent messaging and bizarre decision-making that failed to resonate with science.
“They have no leadership right now. Suddenly, there’s an enormous number of jobs opening up at the highest level positions,” an anonymous NIH scientist told Common Sense, the Substack run by former New York Times columnist, Bari Weiss.
