The case of former Corporal Billy Garrow, who spoke with the Western Standard to tell his story, says he was a Canadian soldier whose health deteriorated following a Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, which he says he was forced to get or would face charges or be kicked out of the military. He says he has been denied Veterans Affairs disability benefits, even though three non-military doctors have affirmed a link between Garrow’s health issues and the vaccine.
At 27 years old, Billy Garrow says he was a fit and healthy soldier serving with the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (2PPCLI) at Canadian Forces Base Shilo, Manitoba. Garrow’s life took an unexpected turn 24 hours after receiving his second Moderna shot in May 2021.
Garrow says 24 hours after his second Moderna vaccination, he experienced a dramatic decline in health. He recalled waking up after a nap with intense full-body nausea and severe stomach pain. The following months were marked by chronic irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), with Garrow enduring between seven to 15 bowel movements daily. His weight plummeted from 218 pounds to 129 pounds. Garrow said his quality of life deteriorated to the point where he struggled with everyday activities.
In his search for answers, Garrow turned to medical professionals for help. Three non-military doctors concluded his health decline was caused by his second Moderna shot.
In a bid to secure assistance, Garrow applied for disability benefits from Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC).
Unfortunately, he was met with the response that his “diagnosis isn’t good enough” to qualify for disability benefits.
Support for Garrow’s disability claim has come from three different medical doctors who have provided medical letters to CFB Shilo.
One letter was sent on April 5, 2022, by Dr. Andrew Ahweng, who indicated that all of Garrow’s health issues “appear to stem after his Moderna vaccine.”
Two more letters from two separate doctors were sent to CFB Shilo. One was from cardiologist Ildegul Rodriguez, and the other was Dr. Muthiah Karrupanchetty, an internal medicine specialist. Both doctors backed Dr. Andrew Ahweng’s assessment that Garrow’s health issues appear related to the Moderna vaccine.
Garrow says he has been medically released from the military as of last month and is still not receiving any form of assistance from Veterans Affairs Canada for disability benefits.
As a result of being denied assistance from Veterans Affairs Canada, Garrow says he is moving back to British Columbia to live with his parents so they can take care of him
