House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) on Monday issued a subpoena to former Disinformation Governance Board head Nina Jankowicz. She is being called to testify as a part of the GOP investigation into the weaponization of the federal government.
Jordan issued a subpoena for Jankowicz, as well as former CEO of the National School Boards Association Chip Slaven, and National Assessment Governing Board Trustee Viola Garcia. Jordan had initially sent interview requests to the trio in late January.
“We have repeatedly sought information from you concerning your official actions and duties as a DHS employee and former Executive Director of the Board, including how the Board intended to define disinformation, how it planned to collection information and from what sources, how it anticipated countering disinformation, and how it proposed to protect First Amendment rights,” Jordan wrote to Jankowicz in his March subpoena.
“As the former Executive Director of the Board, you are uniquely situated to provide information that is relevant and necessary to inform the Committee’s oversight and potential legislative reforms,” he continued. “Accordingly, and in light of your disregard of our earlier voluntary requests, please find attached a subpoena compelling you to appear for a deposition.”
Nina Jankowicz has been on the warpath as of late, claiming that she has been unfairly treated by the media. She is seeking donations for a lawsuit to go on a revenge tour.
Nina Jankowicz was terminated as the Department of Homeland Security’s ‘disinformation czar’ after media blowback. She argued, ironically, that she was the victim of ‘disinformation.’
Jankowicz, it should be noted, had a track record of pushing disinformation herself, such as calling the Hunter Biden laptop a “Russian influence op” prior to the 2020 election — a clear case of “election interference.”
“Back on the ‘laptop from hell,’ apparently—Biden notes 50 former natsec officials and 5 former CIA heads that believe the laptop is a Russian influence op,” Jankowicz tweeted.
She also praised “dirty dossier” author Christopher Steele and pushed the Trump-Russia collusion hoax, which was based in part on Russian disinformation.
In August 2020, Jankowicz tweeted about the former British spy’s appearance on the Infotagion podcast: “Listened to this last night – Chris Steele (yes THAT Chris Steele) provides some great historical context about the evolution of disinfo. Worth a listen.”
She also blasted Elon Musk and those like him for being “free speech absolutists.”
“I shudder to think about if free speech absolutists were taking over more platforms, what that would look like for the marginalized communities,” she said in an NPR interview.
The House Republicans should look to expose Jankowicz as a partisan operative who was seeking to weaponize government to push the Democratic Party’s extreme views and violate Americans’ constitutional rights.
